An RF connection should be specified as part of the signal path, not only by the connector name. Frequency range, impedance, mating interfaces, cable length and the installation environment influence what is suitable. For measurement work, the way an assembly is routed and repeatedly connected can also matter to the intended use.
Discuss RF connectors, adaptors and cable assemblies with SC Science using a clear description of both ends of the connection. Include drawings or photographs where the interface is uncertain, and distinguish connector type from the required mating configuration. State the electrical requirements at the relevant frequencies, together with any constraints on flexibility, bend radius, repeated movement or access around the equipment.
